HP RP3410 cannot bootup at all

Hi,

An RP 3410 will no longer power up via commands from the MP, or from just pushing the button on the front panel.

When the PC command menu is entered and "ON" is typed in all seems well until I go back to the PC menu and still see the status as "OFF"

I can hear very very faint beeps coming from the server when I try to power it up, so I guess that has something to do with this.

Any solution on this?

Regards,

Chui

Re: HP RP3410 cannot bootup at all

No sure if you are still having a problem or not, but from the logs you copied, it seems that power supply is causing a problem with driving a voltage line to high.

Remove PS 2 and see if that helps.  If not, remove all the components in the system except for CPU 0 and try again.  It could end up being a system board problem though.

Hi,

Looks like you have issue with one of the BPS (Bulk Power Supply) on this server.

Suggest you to ..

1. Check the LED status on the BPS, see if any of them are in Amber. If yes try to remove it and check if the system boots up.

2. If no LED indication, try removing/disconnecting each of the BPS and see if it makes any difference.

3. If still fails we may have to suspect the system board.

Re: HP RP3410 cannot bootup at all

Hi,

The following event indicates that there is a problem with the 12V DC output of Power supply 2, which seems to power down the server immediately after it is powered ON.

Log Entry 562: 13 Jan 2013 23:24:52

Most likely, removal or replacement of the Power supply 2 would resolve the issue.

Incase the issue persists even after replacing the Power supply 2, then the next possible suspects are as follows.

- System board

- Power Supply Interface module

Re: HP RP3410 cannot bootup at all

Hi

Do you find amber LED Lit for any of the power supply?
If yes, then remove it and try to power on the system with single PSU.
If both PSU doesnt show any amber LED...
it could be single CPU system, which could cause such scenario...
hence consider replacing CPU
