Re: HP RP3440 CAN NOT GET IT TO COME UP AT ALL

Did you follow this?

If you ordered the A6150B graphics card kit for installation into a HP 9000 rp3410 or rp3440 server, you need only install the graphics card to activate graphics capability. DO NOT install the USB card; it is NOT supported. USB capability is already incorporated into your HP 9000 rp3410 and rp3440 server and the USB ports are located on the rear panel.

Hope this helps!

Hope this helps!

Re: HP RP3440 CAN NOT GET IT TO COME UP AT ALL

I don't have a serial console just the A6150B and a monitor.

The system light just blinks and I still have had no luck getting this thing to come up i'm at a stand still and have tried everything I know how to.

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks again for all your help...

Re: HP RP3440 CAN NOT GET IT TO COME UP AT ALL

Hi Jim,

unfortunately, the VGA screen will NOT display anything before HPUX is booted which is really a problem if you want to try to install HPUX .

You MUST connect to the serial console port of the Management processor ("MP") (which is a 25 pin cable with three 9 pin serial connectors on the opther side (console/remote/UPS).

You can use a PC or notebook with a null-modem cable to connect to this port and Hyperterm as terminal program (in Windows under Start->Programs->Accessories->Communication )

The you can log into the MP with Admin, password Admin.

It is also possible to connect via lan to the MP.

See http://docs.hp.com/en/A7137-96008/ch03s06.html

Then, when you have the MP> prompt you can enter the console with "co". If the system was turned on, it should already be at the "BCH" Main Menu were you can boot from the DVD with

bo 0/0/2/0.0.0
Interact with IPL ? n

to install HPUX.

I hope this helps.

Re: HP RP3440 CAN NOT GET IT TO COME UP AT ALL

I am logged in with a 700/92 console and logged into MP Admin / Admin.

Went into VFP no major errors

I can't login to Console "CO" it acts as if it is starting and then stops and hangs there.

Any ideas?

If you perform an RS and then do the CO do you see anything at all?

Re: HP RP3440 CAN NOT GET IT TO COME UP AT ALL

What are the last 3 lines of text you see?

What does the VFP mode indicate when the system seems to be hung?

For some reason, the rp3440 and newer rp series machines won't display power-on self-test output in the COnsole mode: only VFP will indicate self-test status. If the system is configured to run maximal self-tests at boot, the tests will take quite a while.
