HP rp5430 Disk failure
I have a HP rp 5430. One of the disk drives have failed but the users continue to work, i think there is RAID on this machine. How do check which drive failed and what is the procedure to replace the failed drive. Does the machine have hot swop drives ?
Thanks
Sakhile

Re: HP rp5430 Disk failure
The internal drives in an rp54xx system are 'hot-swappable', however keep in mind that if they are mirrored disks, they will have to be remirrored if changed out.
Could you please post the output of #ioscan -fnC disk
Thanx!!

Re: HP rp5430 Disk failure
Sorry the drives are not internal they are in a HP Storage Works external enclosure with 9 drives One of the drives has a orange light on. How do i check if RAID is running on the machine. If i replace the faulty drive will the machine start rebuilding the drive automatically ?
Thanks
Sakhile

Re: HP rp5430 Disk failure
Do the external storagework front panel indicate the name of the storagework, something like AutoRaid, disk system 2100 or others.
Try give us the output of ioscan -nfk and vgdisplay -v
