Re: HP9000 G70 & G45

For G class and E class :
1.Support HPUX 11.00 32 Bit not 64 bit.

2. Not support HPUX 11i because for HPUX11i only 64 Bit

if you want install HPUX 11.00 ( 32bit) it's possible.

Re: HP9000 G70 & G45

Old boxes!

At least HP-UX 11.00 will run on them, but HP-UX 11.11 probably won't.

They are mentioned as *unsupported* for 11.11

http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-2805/ch02s04.html

But supported for 11.00

http://docs.hp.com/en/5990-6721/ch01s08.html#bgedfjhb

Anyway, you will get tired while watching them work.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP9000 G70 & G45

Actually, 11.11 is NOT purely 64-bit. I have 11.11 running on a pair of E35's. It doesn't run fast, but it runs and accomplishes what I want to accomplish.

So, yes 11.11 should run (though NOT "OFFICIALLY" supported) on the G series of machines.

Just make sure that you turn OFF as much stuff as possible. Go through ALL your config files in /etc/rc.config.d and set as much as possible to '0' so the services, process, daemons, don't start automatically. You need as much help as possible with 256MB of RAM.

I don't think I'd attempt it on only 64 MB of RAM though.

Re: HP9000 G70 & G45

I can confirm that 11.11 does indeed run on G70s. We have 3 of them running as FTP servers. Even have a couple of E25s running 11.11 working as web servers. It's painfully slow to patch them, but they run.
