Hi,

This is probably a zoning issue. The EMC fibre channel port (and fibre switch port if used) must be zoned to present all drives needed to the WWN (World Wide Name) of your 5158 FC cards. So have you storage people or EMC if they zoned it to check the zoning & LUN security.

Hi,

It has to be checked on the array and/or switch themselves. We have a storage team that admins these so I've never had to do it. The arrays all have laptops in them to do so & I believe you access switches through their console ports.

Now I'm sure you are aware that you will not see the actual disks that are in the EMC, rather you will see the LUNs that are presented to your HP machine by the EMC array. How many LUNs are configured on the EMC? If it is just 9, then everything is normal.

EMC Symmetrix or the mid-range Clariion that EMC aquired when they bought DG?

It's a mid-range clariion FC5700

Re: HP9000 L2000 HP-UX 11.00 EMC2 FC5700

When Jeff talks about laptops in the array, I think he is refering to the Symmetrix. The Symmetrix can mask LUNs, but I don't know if the FC5700 can. While HP will support the Symmetrix, it won't support the EMC midrange systems. I suggest that you contact EMC.

Re: HP9000 L2000 HP-UX 11.00 EMC2 FC5700

If your using a clariion, then you need to present the LUN's to the system from the Navisphere manager. Typically you can connect to the clariion with a browser and configure it that way. The storage group for that server must have those LUN's assigned to it. If they are not, then you don't get any LUN's. Once you have added the LUN's to the storage group, then you must, run:

# ioscan -fn
# /sbin/init.d/agent stop
# /sbin/init.d/agent start

un-masking from a symmetrix is a completely different method and is more complex depending on the tools being used.
