I have searched and searched .. we have an L-1000 running 4GB ram. I'd like to increase the ram. I THINK it supports 8GB sync-dram (current is 8 512mb chips dimm).
Cannot find the manual. Can the ram in this machine be upgraded to 8GB? What is the maximum? How many bamks and configurations do I have to work with?
TIA,
Betty

Hi Betty,
you are right, the maximum for the L1000 (aka rp5400) is 8 GB RAM.

Re: HPUX Server L-1000 Ram Upgrade
Hi Betty,
In the L1000, memory DIMMs reside in slots located on the System Board (up to eight). They must be loaded in DIMM pairs of equal size.
In your case, you will have remove some of the existing module pairs and replace them with DIMMs of higher capacity.
Maximum that is supported is 8GB only -- unless you wish to upgrade the hardware...
hope this helps too!
kind regards
yogeeraj
