How would a 3rd Superdome cabinet connect to others?

The HP literature states that cabinets can be numbered from 0 - 7, and implies one can attach up to eight cabinets.

I have a dual-cabinet 64-way. I can clearly see the cabling between the left and right backplanes.

I was wondering how a third cabinet would attach or is that not possible?

I don't see how the existing left or right back-planes could attach to a another [left or right] bckplane. e.g. It doesn't seem like the flex cable connections would match up.

I've looked in the service guides and admin books. All I have found is info on dual-cabinet scenarios.

Got any info regarding this?
Thank you.

Re: How would a 3rd Superdome cabinet connect to others?

The maximum is 2 cabinets, even if you can find connectors for 8 cabinets in some older models.

2 cabinets is maximum.

Hope this helps!

Maximum Superdome Cabinets = 2
Only an I/O expansion cabinet is required when a customer requires more PCI X cards.

Hi,

You can have only 2 Cabinets in a COMPLEX.

you may have 2 IOX ( IO Extension Cabinets )also connected to this.

As a whole you can have

2 SUPERDOME CABINETs
&
2 IOX CABINETs

Re: How would a 3rd Superdome cabinet connect to others?

The ORIGIONAL design was to be able to have up to 8 cabinets (0-7), with 8 cells in each cabinet, and then 4 cpu's per cell. This would have given a 256 cpu server.
This is why the IO Expansion Cabinets are numbered from 8.
Unfortunately, due to a number of factors, it was decided to limit it to 2 cabinets per complex.

My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Thank you all for the quick reponses.
As Monty Python might say, "TWO! Two shall be the maximum number of Superdome cabinets in a complex."
