Hpux 11i - too many packets on loopback intf.

I have an application which run on 11i, and which overload the "loopback" interface.
GPM show 6200 pkt.rate on lo0.
Which parameters should be modified to prevent this netwotk bottleneck ?

Please shutdown application and check if lo0 still overloaded. If not, then application is the cause of your issue. Check its config files, or at least post here what's the application and its version

Re: Hpux 11i - too many packets on loopback intf.

A 6200 packet rate is something that lo0 can handle just fine - in fact, it is rather hard to "overload" the loopback interface as it isn't a "real" interface at all. Lo0 will run as fast as the CPUs go.

Now, GPM may report a "bottleneck" - its network bottleneck alerts are prone to false positives.

Re: Hpux 11i - too many packets on loopback intf.

Loopback is 127.0.0.1 which is internal to every machine everywhere on the planet.

something sent to loopback never leaves the box and as was said, really can't be overloaded.

Translattion: It's the application not the system.
