I/O Slot (PCI) Population Rules for the SuperDome/rp84XX

We're having a major revamp of a big SuperDome complex and 2 rp8420s. As such, I want to make sure the way we populate the I/O PCI slots with FC-HBAs and GigEther cards are optimal and proper.

Does anyone have a guide of sorts or could point me to the right URL? When I do a "rad -q" on both my SuperDome and rp84xx partitions - all show up as 66Mhz capable which does not seem right. I recall in the early releases of the SuperDome, certain slots are 2X (33Mhz) and others are 4x (66Mhz).

Thanks!

Hi Nelson,

Nope - AFAIK - all slots in reasonably current 'Domes are 66MHz capable - except possible #0, which is where they always put core I/O cards.
But I'm not positive on that - I think they *all* are 66-capable.

Got the following statement from the link listed below

In each I/O chassis, PCI slots 4 to 7 provide 4xPCI (66 MHz, 400 Mbytes/sec.), and all others (slots 0 to 3 and 8 to 11) provide 2xPCI (33 MHz, 200 Mbytes/sec.).
