Icannot see dvdrom while installing hp-ux 11.11 on L 1000

Hi

I have a HP L 1000 servers with hp-ux 11.0 installed.
I need to upgrade it in to 11.11.
server has a DVD rom installed ( internal ) and it is visible to the current OS with the device path 0/0/2/1.2.0 which is visible when booted to 11.0 and on the server chassis its path is marked as 0/0/2.1.x.

when i boot the system with the OS media cd inside the DVD rom and try to search for the boot path with "sea" after interrupting automatic booting, i cannot see the DVD rom path as a boot path.

if i boot to the current os which is 11.0 i can see the DVD rom and can even mount the same cd to the os.
is their any special way to search the DVD rom.

I have even tried using the device path 0/0/2/1.2.0 to as below without luck.
bo 0/0/2/1.2.0 .

any idea to boot from the DVD rom mostly well come.

AFAIR there was a firmware problem with a specific DVD drive.
Try to power cycle the server and run the search command after this.

Rebooted couple of times still no luck.
is their any way to update the driver firmware to any latest version while in 11.0 ?

Can you run this on the DVD device file:

# diskinfo -v /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0

(use the correct device file please).

Try the following :
Remove the DVD rom from the drive.
Power down the system (maybe even remove powercords)
Power up the system (don't put the DVD rom in the drive yet)
Interrupt the boot process.
Put the DVD rom in the drive and wait for it to spin.
Perform a search for bootpaths.

This is what used to do the trick for us if we had problems with DVD drives in L-class systems.

Torstens > firmware was perfect.
now the firmware version of the DVD drive is 2.01.
Can get the DVD rom boot media at boot up of the L 1000 while searching.
