last time. Everyone says the install is better
and cleaner. I would like to try an install
this time.
What are the steps involved? When you boot from
the cd like the book says does that bring in
your patches too?
The update I did wasn't too bad , but since
everyone seems to lean toward the install being
better I'd like to try. I welcome any
suggestions, this is the 2nd unix os upgrade
I've ever done.
Thanx
Mike

Re: Info welcomed for 10.2 to 11.0 os upgrade
Make sure that you do a vgexport -p -m mapfile on all of your non-vg00 filesystems, print a copy of bdf, ioscan -fn, and of course backup.
I would also save a copy of passwd, group, & make a tar or cpio of /home then you should be ready to proceed.
If you have a spare set of disks big enough to handle a new vg00 that is my very favorite way to upgrade. That way if somethings goes wrong you simply swap disks and you're back to 10.20.
This thread will outline in broad terms a good cold install path.
