Is A class a 32 or 64 bit machine?

Hi,

We have an old A-class server. Is it 32 or 64 bit machine?

Thanks.

Hi,

getconf HW_CPU_SUPP_BITS

should give you the answer.

Hi Adriatico,

I'll back up Andrew.
IF it's the "pizza=box" A180 - the last 32-bit system HP *ever* made - then that's it's bit width.
BUT if it's an A-400/500 - or rp24xx then it's 64-bit only.

Rgds,
Jeff

Hi,

If you can log into machine, try and run this command "getconf HW_CPU_SUPP_BITS". I think, this would give you the exact bit of the machine.

All the best.

Re: Is A class a 32 or 64 bit machine?

Jeff - that should be 64-bit _kernel_ only - the A400/500/rp24XX run 32-bit applications just fine.

If the OP cannot login to the box, IIRC the A180 did not have hot-plug drives, so if you remove the plastic front bezel and do not see a door on the left that can open to reveal drives, it is an A180. Similarly, I believe there was a difference in the number of LED's on the front, with the A400/A500/rp24xx having five of them.

There were also non trivial differences on the back, but the above should be enough to ID the thing.
