Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

hi Sea,

from GSP> you can use the command , ls and lc , to check the IP status:

LS : LAN Status
This command displays all parameters and the current status of connections of the GSP LAN. The LAN parameters are not modified by the execution of this command.
=---------------------------------

GSP> lc

LC This command allows you to modify the LAN configuration.
Current configuration:MAC Address : 0x00306e050a63
IP Address : 10.248.254.38
GSP Host Name : myhappygsp
Subnet Mask : 255.255.248.0
Gateway : 10.248.254.1
Web Console Port Number: 2023
Do you want to modify the LAN configuration? (Y/[N]) N

Answer N if no modification is required.
---------------------------------------

cheers,
Raj.

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

Hi sea Monkey

There isn't any default IP address with GSP console!
You have to connect directly to the GSP console by console cable and setup it.
The command that setup LAN Console is:"LC" command. Just follow the instruction!

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

Hello, Thanks for your replies. I am familiar with GSP commands. Let me tell you the scenario, One of our server was rebooted and its still not coming up. I would like to login to GSP and find out where it stuck. I am sure, right now i can't login since i dont know Console IP. I just wanted a way to find out from a telnet session to get to know Console IP for accessing GSP.

Hope its clear now.

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

Hi SM,

Since you dont know the Console IP, the best result is hook your PC / your notebook to the console port and do the troubleshooting.

On this, you can also get the console IP so you can use this console IP in the future purpose.

If you using Secure Web Console (J3591A), check the url below (docID : KBRC00009417) :

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000072440256

Hope this information can help you.

Cheers,

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

Hi Sea Monkey,

the default ip address of the Gsp is
default configration for service processor. customer lan ip address : 192.168.1.1

default configuration for service processor private lan ( in the case of superdome )
192.168.2.10
try to telnet to these ip address ( if you are changed these ip , then it will not work )

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

Hi again

I think no way to access the LAN console if you don't know it's IP address.
As the above idea, the problem will happen if there is more than one GSP console with the same default IP address!

You can ping it! It you can, let's try!

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

Dear SM,

The MP is totally independent of the OS,

you can either,

1. connect a terminal to serial console and get the IP info

2. RESET the GSP to get the default IP assigned to the MP and access it using the same.

Siva.

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

u can also use cross cable to connect to gsp if u know the mac address of the gsp.
1.connect cross cable between gsp and notebook.
2.assign ip 192.168.0.1 to your notebook.
3. fom command prompt of your notebook use following comman to temporarly assigning ip to gsp.
arp -s 192.168.0.2 mac address of gsp
e.g arp -s 192.168.0.2 11-11-11-11-11-11-11
check the entry
arp -a

now telnet to ip that you have assigned to GSP. you would be able to login to gsp and from there u can check/change IP.

Re: Is it possible to know Console IP ?

For a remote site I ask the local network guy to take his fluke and unplug the cable in the 'LAN Console' port and to read out its ip address for me. This only if you trust the LAn jockey to pull the right cable out of the right server.
