Itanium on rp7410 and 8400

Does anyone know when the Itanium chip will be available for upgrade on the current rp7410 and rp8400 (at least that was my understanding) also how many processors will we be able to go to, I heard something about being in 4 packs so does that mean we will be able to have 32 procs in a rp8400???

still just says "real soon now", so I have no hard dates. I chatted with one of the on-line sales reps & he had no definitive date & pushed a pdf whitepaper to me.
I've attached it, but again it has no hard dates in it.
Your local reps may have acess to better data.

As to proc count, the PA-RISC rp8400 holds 16. I doubt they'll put out Itanium servers of the same line with more CPUs...at first at least.

Hi,

I haven't heard about dates. What I've heard is that upgrade will be like in Superdome - you will need replace cells with new Itanium cells. It might be possible to use memory from old cells.

Also, there are plans for future dual-core Itanium processors, as well as dual-core RISC processors, so with this probably it will be possible to double the number fo processors in rp7410 and 8400 servers.

Also there are rumours that new 8 and 16-way Itanium servers rx7620 and rx8620 will appear soon (in couple of month).

Just got information that upgrades rp7410 to rx7620 and rp8400 to rx8620 are available from September, 15th.
It's possible to order them now, but they will not be shipped till shipment of rx7610/rx8620 will start.
