Re: K-class server unable to configure console

You have most likly a bad cable or terminal. Try another cable and a PC with hyperterminal emulation. A small number of K-Class servers have a grafics card installed. If you have such card, you can redirect the console output to the graphics card. Do you have one?

Hope this helps!

Re: K-class server unable to configure console

The most common problem with the console not communicating is not a bad cable, it is the wrong cable. There are two completely incompatible cables in the world of RS-232, a straight-thru (also known as a modem cable) and a crossover (also known as a null-modem or printer cable). Simply put, the transmit and receive signals are reversed between the two cables. Make sure you have the correct cable. The K-series computers use a standard 9-25 pin PC printer cable. The C440 message will continue until the correct cable is used. If you must get the server running (bypass the C440 code), just unplug the console from the K-series.
