K210 FLT A088 / 11BF

Hi,

I have a K210 running HP-UX 11.0
I have just installed a PantaSafe product on it and rebooted.

The box fails to boot with the console errors:

FLT A088
FLT 11BF

What do these mean?
Any help appreciated,

Re: K210 FLT A088 / 11BF

Hello,

A088 means that the server was unable to boot. As a consequence, CPU 1 halted, which leads to error 11BF.

What does this PantaSafe product do? A boot failure can be lots of things, from a bad termination (no SCSI bus) to failed hard drive, to loss of boot information on the harddrive.

Could be many things.

"1xBF" is "Slave CPU halted due to catastrophic boot failure".

Thanks for the info Gerorge & Vincent.
Turns out to be a failure on the core i/o.

A088 is "can't find console"

Re: K210 FLT A088 / 11BF

I am receiving this same A088 message when booting my D class server. I am running 10.20. I have checked all the cables and have tried the control-d trick. I am still unable to get past the FLT A088 error. Does anyone know of anything else to try? Thank you for the help.

Hi, Jason

Get your server's system board replaced A.S.A.P.

Re: K210 FLT A088 / 11BF

Hi,
Just thougt I would add this to the discussion, although it is rather old.
I have had a D370/9000 system having a similar problem, of which it was not displaying anything on the console, and the LCD display getting the A088 error (No system console found).

I at first suspected the system board was at fault, and after stripping the system down to minimum config. (CPU, RAM, Systemboard) i isolated the fault to a bad remote management card. (modem card).

As this card is not needed for normal system operation, i removed it and the system is running fine.

I dont recommend you working on your own systems, but it could be worth informing your engineer that it could be worth a try when waiting for parts to arrive or the like.

Just thought i might add my experience, cheers.

Re: K210 FLT A088 / 11BF

A year and a half later, I had this same problem on an off-support K-460, found this thread in the forum, tried removing the modem, and that appears to have solved it. Well worth trying.
