K400 'TEST 3002' Code in LCD Front Panel

Hi,

When I power on my K400, it gets stuck while at 'TEST 3002'. The box has 1gb memory, 2 internal disks, 3 lan cards, 1 cdrom drive, 1 DDS2 tape device.

Can anyone help to get rid of this problem.

Thanks
Asghar

As indicated POST is hanging during PDH scratch RAM initialization. As the monarch appears to be CPU 0, you could try swapping that CPU with another so see if that makes a difference. If not then I am afraid it looks to be a problem with the system board / backplane.

What is Scratch RAM and where does it reside in the server....

Re: K400 'TEST 3002' Code in LCD Front Panel

Asghar,
the scratch RAM is a small amount of RAM,situated on the CPU, which is used in the early stages of startup, before main RAM inititalisation.
Has anything changed since your last boot, such as a firmware upgrade and hardware change?

Re: K400 'TEST 3002' Code in LCD Front Panel

Thanks for all your help. The problem still persists. I have only one CPU in the box and may be that's the culprit. Looks like I have to throw the box.

Re: K400 'TEST 3002' Code in LCD Front Panel

hi,

I would hang on before scrapping the server. You can pick up the CPU boards very cheaply for the Kx00's nowadays from second user resellers.
But first I would reseat the cpu and memory boards and even drop it down to just a pair of dimms. Also reseat the power monitor board next to the cpu.

This may get you up and running.
