K460 Memory Carrier issue

Have an A3284A, recently upgraded memory from 2G to 4G. The original 2G was on 1 carrier. I purchased a 2nd carrier due to the amount of simms. loaded both carriers properly with 2G each. (4) 256M simms and (8) 128M simms on each carrier. Which ever carrier is in slot 1 fails. The console msg shows that all the simms are not properly seated. Both carries work in slot 0. I inspected the connector for slot 1 on the system board, pins look fine. Does it sound like a bad system board?

Thanks in advance

Hi Rich,

from the result of the analytic troubleshooting you have done, I would say it IS the systemboard.

best regards

Re: K460 Memory Carrier issue

Hi Stefan,

That's what I figure. The user decided to just go with one carrier for now so I loaded it up and it totals 3G so they're only minus 1G and they say that's okay for now.

Thanks,
Rich
