L-Class L1500 (rp5430) Power Supply Question...

Hi,

Having a bit of a debate about these L-Class boxes. They have 3 PSUs built in to them, but what I want to know is, what is the minimum number of power supplies the server will run on. Is it 1 out of 3 or 2 out of 3???

Thanks

hi

you can run them with just one psu if its only the minimum spec.
really you should have 2 but the third is just pure redundacy

Re: L-Class L1500 (rp5430) Power Supply Question...

Hi,

Andy is right.

L1000 (rp5400): supported with 1 PSU, 2 PSU for n+1, 3 PSU for n+2 redundancy

all other L-Classes: run with 2 PSU, 3 PSU for n+1 redundancy.
It may be that the server also runs with only one power supply, but it will crash if the power consumption excceeds the ~ 900 Watts that one power supply can deliver.

best regards

Yep you can run it with only one PSU but if it's a 4 CPU and if there is lots of pci cards, you should have a second PSU...

Re: L-Class L1500 (rp5430) Power Supply Question...

Hello Lee,

We have now n our lab an HP L2000 with 2 CPU's and 4 PCI cards and it works fine with just one PSU (not reccomended, the psu life i know will be shorter, it's just a test)

Re: L-Class L1500 (rp5430) Power Supply Question...

Thanks for all the replies, we're going to run on two, with 2 CPUs and 4 I/O cards, so we will have redundancy.
