L-Class Servers...

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the minimum number of power supplies which need to be up for an L-Class (rp5430) to run?

These boxes have three built in, but do they need a minimum of 1 or 2 PSUs to be up and running in order for the system to work?

Re: L-Class Servers...

I had seen an RP5470 working on a single PSU. So hopefully your RP5430 should work on a single power supply as well.

Re: L-Class Servers...

Our techs here told me that the L-Class would need 2 PSUs to boot, but could operate with one failed when they're up and running.

(I've not yet collected all parts for my L-Class 'kit', so I don't have personal experience.)
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.

Re: L-Class Servers...

It will depend on the loading of the server.
A lightly loaded (single cpu, minimum memory and PCI cards) can and will boot and run nicely on one power supply.
A heavily loaded system (4 cpus, full load of memory and many I/O cards) will require a second power supply.

The third is for N+1 redundancy.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck - Tim
