Re: L Class server

Hi

As far as I know, such a thing is not supported.

Sorry

Re: L Class server

Hi

The architecture of L- class will not support 10.2 version of HP-UX.
You can load 11.0 and above

Re: L Class server

I am not sure about the support issue but I have successfully installed 10.20 on an L2000 system in the past. But considering the firmware modifications since then (this was in 2001 when I did it) it may not be possible right now.

All you can do is try and see. Unsupportability may be an issue though if something goes wrong along the way.

Re: L Class server

You cannot run 10.20 on L,N,A class (most of the new hardware). 11.0 is the minimum. K class is your best bet if you still need to run 10.20.

Re: L Class server

No.

The OS is 32 bits and not supported.

The hardware can only run 64 bit OS.

Re: L Class server

I don't see how Mel could have gotten 10.20 and an L-class machine. The L's have always been 64-bit only to the best of my knowledge and 10.20 was definitely only a 32-bit OS.

This is the first I have ever heard of 10.20 on any hardware like that.

Re: L Class server

I don't doubt Mel got it to work partly, but since the L-class has PCI I/O and that was not a part of the server version of HP-UX 10.20 only the workstation version of HP-UX 10.20. The pa-risc 2.0 chips have a superset of the pa-risc 1.1 (32bit) chip instructions, so it isn't impossible, but many things are just not likely to work or work with great effort with no support. HP-UX isn't supported on any platform today so trying it on something where it was never supported and should have some problems isn't a good idea.
