L1000 CPU replacement

I've changed my CPU from 440Mhz to 360Mhz and the server don't recognize it.
What can I do?
The server is L1000 with P/N: A5576A
Would I need to do something to update the server information or it can do it itself?

Re: L1000 CPU replacement

Karl,

there is a dip switch on the left side of the board next to the CPUs.

I guess the current setting is

1 on 2 off 3 off 4 off 5 on

you need to set

1 on 2 off 3 on 4 off 5 on

Please unplug the power first.
If the current setting is different, do not change it and post.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: L1000 CPU replacement

Once the system can see the CPU, only HP can update the system information with ss_update. ss_update requires an HP only codeword.
If at first you don't succeed, read the man page.

Re: L1000 CPU replacement

I'm sure ss_update is not needed here.

Any results?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: L1000 CPU replacement

ss_update is not needed; however, your system will still show as an L1000-44 after changing the processors.
If at first you don't succeed, read the man page.

Re: L1000 CPU replacement

I've solved this problem with dip's configuration.

Thank you
