I have read the user manual for the L1000 server but am not sure so I will ask. Can an internal hardrive in an L1000 be replaced with the server on an the OS up?
The disk in question did not have anything critical on it and is used to store oracle export files. The file system has been dismounted and the volume deactivated and exported. I will recreate the vg and file system from scratch after the disk is replaced.

Short answer - yes.
Appears you have completed all necessary steps to remove the device w/o causing any errors to be generated.
Rgds,
Jeff
