L2000 GSP I/O error

I got this message from the GSP console.
Please tell me what hardware failed on my system.

Thanks in advance !
Minh

Re: L2000 GSP I/O error

Hi,

These alerts signifies a failure of an I/O module/adapter on the system.

First alert shows its funcational failure as it is not responding .Second alert shows configuration error on account of it's functional failure.

I would check the CL log
GSP -> CL
GSP -> IN -> IO

In the I/O module information , you should see some warning or "Unknown" entries

If the failed I/O adapter is not built in , then you can remove it ( being add on card ) and check if you get these alerts.

If the failed adapter is in-built adapter , like bus adapter , then you need to replace the system board.

I would open hardware call to HP and provide them the console logs ( GSP -> CL ), system error logs ( GSP -> SL -> e )

Re: L2000 GSP I/O error

The error means that a LBA (local bus adapter, a PCI bus controller) failed or is missing.
The chassis code 0x2000006683FF2164 000000FF FF0BFF83 points to the physical location Slot 11 (HW path 0/7/0/0).
I would recomend to replace or reseat the card that is in this slot. If this does not help, then maybe the PCI backplane has a problem ...

Re: L2000 GSP I/O error

Thanks !
I have located the slot11 and removed the fibre
PCI card, but error still show on GSP log.

Do I have to reset the GSP on any hardware path?

Likely, I have to replace the PCI backplan.
Please let me know where to find the manual.

Thanks

Re: L2000 GSP I/O error

Hi,

There is no IN command from GSP.
Is there any other than GSP-IN-IO ?

Thanks

Re: L2000 GSP I/O error

Sorry !! My mistake.

Insted of GSP -> IN -> IO, read as BCH -> IN -> IO

In current situation I would advise to hard reset the system and start over. If you see those " EARLY BOOT VFP : SYSTEM ALERT " messages. Interrupt the boot process when it displays " To discontinue, press any key within 10 seconds" . You will be at BCH menu. Then go to Information menu and use io option . It will display information about system bus adapters and PCI adapters. Specially look for bus adapters. I do suspect a LBA is failed. There should be two entries for "Local bus adapter" If not then LBA failure is for sure. Since these LBAs are built on system board, you need to replace them

Put a h/w call to HP and get the board replaced.
