L2000 does boot from VA through A6826A FC HBA

I connected the VA7410 to L2000 server through A6826A HBA. I am trying to ignite and boot from the array through this HBA, but it fails most of the times (intermittant). PDC version on L2000 is 44.01. Any suggestions?

Error message test attached!

Regards,
Ravi.

Re: L2000 does boot from VA through A6826A FC HBA

Hello,

Are your sure to have correct driver for the card (fcp).
On the host you must see the driver as follow
#swlist -l product | grep -i fib
FC-FCD B.11.11.02 PCI-X FibreChannel;Supptd HW=A6826A,A9782A,A9784A
Note that B.11.11.02 is the latest firmware revision comming with december 2003 OE

you could see such information on sofware depot link:

http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayInstallInfo.do?productNumber=A6826A

An over point is that primary both path scsi id doesn't math with any one Tachyon card(maybe a driver problem?).

Hope this help!

Re: L2000 does boot from VA through A6826A FC HBA

Hello Vincent,

Thanks for your quick response. I see the same drive version as you mentioned. My issue is I am unable to see the VA array connected to A6826A HBA through brocade 3800 switch (set primary boot path)and if fails to boot from the array. However at times it boot from the array though. I strongly believe that its not related to HBA driver.

The error while booting..
Primary boot path: 0/1/2/0.2.30
Alternate boot path: 0/0/2/0.2
Console path: 0/0/4/0.0
Keyboard path: 0/0/4/0.0

Re: L2000 does boot from VA through A6826A FC HBA

Does the machine where you created the Ignite have the same HBA and drivers installed for the VA? An Ignite/UX tape backup won't have any drivers for non-existant hardware. You'll have to add the drivers and VA tools to the reference system, and ideally, make sure it can talk to the VA as a test. Then make your backup tape.
