L2000 fan problems

Our L2000 is indicating a fan problem with fan 1. The fan seems to be working fine. I shut the system down and exchanged FAN 1, and FAN 0. The error stayed with FAN 1. The error only occurs at boottime, and once error is viewed in GSP the system runs fine with no recuring errors. see GSP entry is attached!
Could this be a firmware issue or something wrong with the mother board?
Thanks in advance for any and all of your help!

Re: L2000 fan problems

Dan,

Odd.
Fans #s 0 & 1 plug directly into the system board. make sure they are actually plugged in.

Also, is the LED for the fan on? (indicates failure)

Re: L2000 fan problems

Hello,

Try to replace the platform monitor card. We had problems wqhen fan failures were reported incorrectly by this card.

Re: L2000 fan problems

Hi Dan,

I agree with Vincent.
We also have had false reports of fan problems from flaky platform monitor boards.

Either way, you need to log a HW call with HP.
