L2000

We're looking to upgrade the K420 we have to an L2000 but I see there are 2 kinds, A5191A and A5191B. The parts look identical except for which proc you want to use. Any idea what the differences are?

Re: L2000

Hi Greg,

Not sure myself but the current quote page only shows new A5191Bs & remarketed A5191ARs.
I suspect the difference is in firmware or support boards. They're both 360/440/550 PA8600 systems. Same slots, CPU count & max memory.

Re: L2000

I do know that the difference between the 2 can be shown in the model string ..
# model
The A5191A shows .. 900/800/L2000-36
The A5191B shows .. 900/800/L2000-5X
I think hardware-wise there are identical (as mentioned by Jeff). The difference could be in the architecture revision level of the PA-RISC chip (though using the same 8600 chip). This is just a guess, don't take my word for it.

Re: L2000

Greg and S.K are right they are the same as far as arcitecture. We have both here and the difference is the Core I/O and Firmware. The main difference that we see is the B's have the built in web console access and the A's require an external web console. Functionally they work the same.

Re: L2000

Hello,

These ARE different! The A version supports only 360 and 440MHz CPUs, the other supports 360, 440 and 540MHz CPUs.
