L3000 same as rp5470

Hello,

A Sun guy in need of a little help. I believe the L3000 and the rp5470 are pretty much the same box, but do they share the same parts? System baoard, power supplies, hard drives, etc....

Thanks,
Steve

Re: L3000 same as rp5470

Hi Steve,

Yes, the L3000 is the old name of the RP5470.

You can find the part numbers on.

http://www.partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main

enter the model L3000

Hope this helps,

Re: L3000 same as rp5470

Hi Steve,

Well - Yes & no.
The L3000 topped out at the PA8700 650 MHz CPU I believe, but began life with the PA8600 which topped out at 550 MHz
Whereas the rp5470 today is available with either the PA8700 750MHz or the PA8700+ 875 MHz
So depending on just how old that L3000 is it just might have the older processor which I think needs a different mainboard. The actual model # of the system will indicate just which it is.

My 2 cents,
Jeff
