LVM errors while installing 11.0 on L2000 standalone server

I get this message periodically during the install process of 11.0 on an HP L2000 standalone server:
LVM: vg[0]: pvnum=0 (dev_t=0x1f012000) is POWERFAILED
LVM: Recovered Path (device 0x1f012000) to PV 0 in VG 0.
LVM: Restored PV 0 to VG 0.

Does anyone know why I am getting this? Thx

The timeout period on one of those disks was tripped.

This means the disk was non-repsonsive for at least 30 seconds.

This can also be triggered if the disk became disconnected for some reason.

dmesg for further information.

I'm attaching a disk testing script, which might be useful.

In addition if there's one more disk in L2000 server you may try to install OS onto that disk to see if the same messages will appear for that disk. If not, then something is wrong with this disk, cable, SCSI card...

Re: LVM errors while installing 11.0 on L2000 standalone server

Hi,

At bch prompt try "sea" to search the Hard disks. Even I faced the same problem once. BUT in my case it was SCSI termination problem. Installation started & detected the HDD but while coping files it used to fail. Fixed the SCSi termination. All went fine.

Thanks
