Re: Lan Card Problem

Hi,

Did you make any change in /etc/rc.config.d/hpbase100conf or /etc/rc.config.d/netconf files ?
It looks like you have some mess in one of these files. I'd recommend you to move the files to a backup directory and to define network configuration either by SAM or by /etc/set_parms. Please do this from the computer's console.

Re: Lan Card Problem

This is an old bug in SAM which stores the MAC address in the /etc/rc.config.d/hpbase100conf file. Except for very special software (like MC Service Guard) and special LAN cards that can have their MAC address changed, never allow the MAC address to be stored in the LAN config files. Edit /etc/rc.config.d/hpbase100conf and remove the MAC address. This is probably a 10.20 system so restarting networking doesn't work that well. Just reboot and the error should go away and the LAN card will now be enabled.

Re: Lan Card Problem

hi, you need to install the eisa 100bt software from the application cd 1

This has a part number of J2780BA

install this with swinstall and then you will beable to configure the card as you require.

Just a note aswell,

This origianlly was a licenced product that you had to buy, however 10.20 not sold or supported anymore? maybe worth checking with Hp on the legalities.

Has the card ever worked in this system before? or is it a new additional card?
