MT5634ZBA modem on L1000 remote serial port

Having problems configuring a standard MT5634ZBA modem on the L1000 remote serial port. HP has given me suggestions that are not working. I also have suggestions from MultiTech that have not been successful. HP says that the L1000 remote serial port is not a "standard" serial port will only work with a HP support modem. How does HP modify the Support modem to work on the remote port? Anybody know how I can configure the L1000 and modem to work?

Try using the UPS port as that is serial port too, also after you find out the device file asscoiated with it just go ahead and edit /etc/uucp/Devices . Put the following two entries
Direct tty0p0 - 9600 direct \D
ACU tty0p0 - 9600 ps_mt1432_tone

You can test by dialling out using

cu -l /dev/tty0p0
