Re: Manuals for I70 E35/55 ?

These servers are now more than 10 years old, but maybe you can find something useful here:

http://www.openpa.net/index.html

What information do you need?

Hope this helps!

Re: Manuals for I70 E35/55 ?

I want to know the h/w details of this server looking for some manuals for the reference.

Not sure why HP has removed the documents from their websites? Was it hurting them?

I would appreciate if someone can share the documents.

Re: Manuals for I70 E35/55 ?

Again, what details do you need?
All e-classes have PA-7100LC CPUs, with 48-96MHz, 16-512MB memory, 2 or 4 I/O slots and SE-SCSI disks.
That's it.

AFAIR at the time the systems were running nobody knows about pdf's or even html yet.

I rememer I used "gopher" at this time.

Hope this helps!

Re: Manuals for I70 E35/55 ?

Here's some information:
http://www.openpa.net/systems/hp-9000_e25_e35_e45_e55.html

Apparently these server models were introduced in 1995 or before that. The first free version of Acrobat Reader was published in 1994, so the PDF format was not very common yet.

At that time, printed manuals were still delivered as standard along with the server. It's possible these manuals were never available in any electronic format, or maybe in some other format that HP was using before PDF. Maybe nobody on HP has ever bothered to convert these old manuals to PDF for electronic publishing?

Re: Manuals for I70 E35/55 ?

I was hoping to find some documentation ( user guide/service guide etc.) in any soft copy format. It make sense that the format like pdf or html weren't available during the 1991 era.

But I was hoping to find those manuals maybe a text format somewhere maybe someone has the hard copies and got them scanned in a pdf format?

Can someone from HP can help me to get those manuals please?

Re: Manuals for I70 E35/55 ?

In the past the only way to get documentation was paper based.
I guess I throwed away anything about this old boxes. And I guess nobody wants to put hundreds of almost useless pages on a scanner ...
You still have the offer to ask a question anyway...

Hope this helps!

Re: Manuals for I70 E35/55 ?

I have a 1996 HP 9000 server configuration guide (paper book) that has the E & I class server specifications, its not a user manual but more of an in-depth description of the servers with memory sequences, MUX configs, I/O layouts, disk info, and minimums / maximums of each server.

The E class part is 4 pages and the I70 class part is about 10 pages.

Since its in a book I cant email it but I can fax it. If you want it, let me know.
