Maximum Memory??

Hi,

I have two systems that I would like to know what the Maximum Operating Memory size is for both. The system types are as follows:

N-4000
RP-5470

If anybody knows what the answers are, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Tks,
-Ken

Re: Maximum Memory??

Hi Ken,

Both would be 16GB Max.

Re: Maximum Memory??

I would say it's:

32GB for N4000 (TKB #KBCA00000017):
http://support2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000065140502

and 16GB for rp5470 (TKB # 25782dhtm):

Re: Maximum Memory??

Ooops...Michael & Shiju are correct as usual.
N4000 & rp74xx systems are indeed 32 Gb.
My mistake - I stand corrected.
Good eye guys - good catch.

Re: Maximum Memory??

Interesting...these specs say 16GB for the N4000.

Re: Maximum Memory??

Jim, the one which you were looking for was e3000 (mpe/ix) systems. I think Ken was looking for HP9000 series systems.

Re: Maximum Memory??

Is there a physical architecture difference between an N4000 sold to run MPE and one sold to run HP-UX? Or is the spec sheet for the MPE-N4000 just wrong?

Re: Maximum Memory??

Hi Jim,

The very earliest N4000s could only accept 512MB DIMMs IIRC. Then the FW was upgraded to allow 1GB DIMMS. Hence the doubling of RAM capacity.

Re: Maximum Memory??

Ken,

Depending on which O/S, for the MPE/iX systems,
16GB is the maximum limit supported by the operating system.

For HP-UX based systems, 32 GB for the N-4000 and 16GB for the RP-5470.

Just one other thought, compare prices of HP memory to other vendors. Third party paroducts are just as good and can be acquired for a significant savings.

My $.04 for inflation,
