Memory not being sensed

Hi All,

I have two rp7420 server with once cell on each and having 12GBs of RAM (12 * 1024). We tried to upgrade it to 20GB by adding 4 more 2GB modules on both. It sensed only 16Gb even after trying different modes of RAM filling in cell. I am giving you the output of each server as below. Could you please suggest on this.

On serverA

Re: Memory not being sensed

Here is a thread to the manual on how to install the dimms properly. Start reading about page 22...

Re: Memory not being sensed

Can you tell what the product# of the DIMMs is and what firmware is running?

MP:CM> sysrev

Hope this helps!

Re: Memory not being sensed

hi,

it may be 'HP' memory but what is the part number on the dimms? is it the right memory for the system?

do you get any warnings at pdc about memory been deconfigured? or mismatched?

it only takes one dimm out of a pair to disable the bank.

the memory kits are quads as well, 4 dimms to one kit. so server A is configured wrongly to work anyway.

On each cell board, Memory Quads must be installed in the following order:
1st (0A, 0B, 1A, 1B), 2nd (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B), 3rd (4A, 4B, 5A, 5B), 4th (6A, 6B, 7A, 7B)
