Mirroring Disks

HI HP,

I'm trying to set a mirror for the disks on my server, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. Can I do it through SAM or are there commands that I have to use?
Please HELP!

Thanks,

Re: Mirroring Disks

You need to provide more information. I assume you want to use MirrorDisk/UX (ie extension of LVM) to do you mirroring ? Let us know what do you currently have (LVM config, ioscan, etc, etc) and how do you want to mirror them.

Re: Mirroring Disks

Hi,
I.E. I have 4) 36 GB drives, I want to mirror them.
Do I mirror the physical disks or at a logical volume level?

Thanks,
Remy

Re: Mirroring Disks

With HP-UX you mirror at the logical level.

lvcreate -m 1 ...

If you run a man lvcreate and don't see the -m option, then you don't have mirrordisk installed.

Later,
Bill
It works for me (tm)

Re: Mirroring Disks

Hi Remy,

IF you have Mirror UX installed on your system - Yes you can do this thru SAM.

You should do a
swlist | grep -i mirror
to determine whether or not you have Mirror UX installed as there is NO way to mirror without it.
BTW Mirror UX is NOT a free pkg - you must purchase it.

Jeff
