Sorry, didn't note your follow up question!
I don't think that you need to install the driver before you put in the card.
Any suggestions from other members ???

I ope you do not have a switched fabric, because IBM does not support hooking the ESS to the K-class on a switched fabric. (They do not support that fibre card...)
If you have the driver already in the kernel, there is no need to do anything before the card is installed.

Where have you heard it's not supported? I was told it is....
We do plan to hook this box up to a switched fabric setup.
I will see if I can find the PDF where I thought IBM showed this card as being supported.
