Moving Disk Controller cards and splitting mirrors
I am trying to install an A6795A Fibre Channel Adapter Card into an L1000. This card is limited to Slots 8,10&12. Problem is that slots 8,10,11&12 contain the C895 Ultra2 Wide LVD Controller Cards for the Disk Arrays. What I think I need to do is move the card from slot 8 to 9 and then insert then new card into slot 8. To do this I believe I need to
1. split the mirror between for the appropriate logical volumes
2. down the system and move the card, and restart
3. recreate the mirror
This is all farily new stuff to me so any advice or opions anyone can give would be appreciated.
THanks

Re: Moving Disk Controller cards and splitting mirrors
Hi,
If this is all fairly new, you mean the equipment or your knowledge?
In case of the last, I suggest try breaking and recreating the mirror without moving the card.
Then basically the hardware part could go wrong...

Re: Moving Disk Controller cards and splitting mirrors
If I were doing this job I would extend to a three way mirror set then reduce to a two mirror set. The reduction would remove the disk to be relocated and then you will not be dropping to a single point of failure. Make sure the cards are supported in the slots you are targetting, slots run at different frequencies for graphics ctrl's etc.
