Could it have something to do with the paths? they are as follow

console path 0/0/4/0.0
keyboard path 0/0/4/0.0

any thoughts?

At main menu

Main Menu: Enter command or menu > IN

then

Re: N-Class - booting failed to initialize status = 7

You have had a pretty significant hardware failure.

At the console:

ctrl-b

log in to gsp, usually just hit enter a few times, unless you have set a password.

sl

Read the errors. You should get an idea whats going on.

Based on what I see, Core I/O card may have failed or have unterminated devices on it.

Re: N-Class - booting failed to initialize status = 7

ENTRY_INIT -3 resolves to:

Can not complete call without error.
An error of unknown type prevented the call from completing correctly.

Look through IPL/PDC, there are some options for viewing / editing the hardware config and compare this what You see physically built into the box.

I'd guess You have a scsi/lan (A60031) card which is deactived for some reason.

yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.

Re: N-Class - booting failed to initialize status = 7

Looks like a serious hardware error on the machine. Appears to be slot 1. I don't think you can fix this without parts / service call.

---------

Install is failing with "-3", which is an "unknown failure" code. Looks like install will be blocked until HW problem is fixed.

Re: N-Class - booting failed to initialize status = 7

Steven,
have a look at this thread:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=716493758+1108040934997+28353475&threadId=785577

Solution seemed to have been replacement card.

Steven,
is this problem resolved? What was the solution?
Thanks

Re: N-Class - booting failed to initialize status = 7

I swapped out the core I/O with a known good one and the error still shows up exactly the same. There are no cards in any of the IO slots. Scot Bean indicated it is slot 1 that is failing, how does one determine slot 1 is failing from the gsp logs? from the 'source id'? The part number on the board that has pci slot 1 is A3639-60014, think if this is replaced the error will go away? The server took 11.i, should i put a network or scsi hba in each slot and try to excerise them with STM?

Re: N-Class - booting failed to initialize status = 7

Steven,

The information below in the GSP error log entry points the suspect IO card.

0x2000106683FF2164 000101FF FF01FF83 - type 4 = Physical Location

This physical location data points the slot 1. See old thread,

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=8500

I searched ITRC with a keyword FF01FF83. It appears there is no IO card in aly IO slot in your case. So problem may be the IO backplane.
