Hi Edward,

What do you mean bij CPUid? Just the versionnumbers, speed, etc? You can use CSTM/XSTM to determine the modelnumber of your cpu.

A temporary key is needed for vista plus software and the cpuid is what they need for the software key. Any ideas? thx

Usually what they want in a licence situation is the machine identitication number.

See if 'uname -i' is what they want.

I actually got the id from uname -a, but thanks for the uname -i, it gives the same.

Re: N-class server CPUid and how is it obtainable.

Hi Edward,

Actually that's the system ID.
It's based an the MAC of the built-in Ethernet I/F and can therefore change if the system board or core I/O gets replaced. It can be changed/reset by HP personnel via a proprietary routine only they can run.
There is an actual CPU ID - but's that's a hex value I believe & specifies an individuall CPU in a system & by position. It's *not* like a CPU serial number.

Rgds,
Jeff
