N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Is the A6092A the only hyperfabric interconnect adapter card that supports the N4000?...or is there some other HP Hypercard that also will support it?
Thanks.

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

This one is (the only one) hyperfabric. There is also hyperfabric2 (A6386A).

See

http://www.hp.com/products1/serverconnectivity/adapters/adapter06/specifications/index.html

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Thanks. Are you saying that there is one and only one (A609A) hyperfabric that is supported?...and it is supported on all of HP servers (ie. K580 in particular)? ... other than the Hyperfabric 2. When would I use the Hyperfabric 2? Thanks for breaking it down:)

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Hi Doris,

If think you will use the hyperfabric for a oracle RAC cluster?

It is a better solution to use 1000 Mbit Lan cards as a cluster interlink.

This is a cheaper and much flexible solution and also supported by oracle

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

hi doris,

neither of the h/f part numbers cards above will work in the any K class series and some other servers as they do not have the 64bit pci slots required. The k class doesnt have any pci slots all together

They will work in the newer systems though like the RP range.

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Ok,but does the card work with all flavors of the N4000 A, B, and C? From my understanding, the N4000 only becomes known as rp74xx. Can you confirm? Thanks

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Hyperfabric2 is the next generation of Hyperfabric and also uses the next generation of switches. Hyperfabric2 is supported on the rp7400 (A3639C) and the N4000 (A3639A and A3639B). If you have existing Hyperfabric switches, then the A6092A is the only one. If you are will to purchase Hyperfabric2 switches, then the A6386A is the correct card to use.

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Thanks for information. Will the A4919-60002 HF adapter work with the N4000 (rp7xxx)? This particular part number is described as Hyperfabric PCI 1X Adapter card. Where as the -62001 is described as supporting the K class. If not, will have to track down an A6092 afterall.

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Doris,

In my experience, the numbers after the dash in the long HP part numbers relate to specific revisions but not a completely different interface. The K-class has a completely different type of interface (HSC) than the N-class (PCI). The Hyperfabric card for the K class was the A4920A when purchased new, and I would expect it to have a long part number like A4920-6xxxx, while I would expect the N-class card (A4919A when purchased new) to be A4919-6xxxx. So, I would expect that the A4919-62001 is a either a newer version of the A4919-60002 or a subcomponent (daughter card). You can try parts surfer, but there could always be errors in that database. PCI 1X is 32bit, 33MHz, and isn't as fast as PCI 4X which is 64bit, 66MHz.

Re: N4000 Hyperfabric Interconnect Adapter card?

Hi, the problem I am seeing is inconsistency. My searches all over the internet show that A4919-60002 is HSC for K class. But my IT says they have a A4919-60002 that is PCI??? any thoughts or confirmations would help!

A4919-60002 INTERFACE BOARD : SEE A4919-69002 HSC ADPTR HYPERFAB K-CLASS

A4919-60003 INTERFACE BOARD : SEE A4919-69003 HSC HYPERFABRIC CRD D CLASS SY

A4919-63001 CABLE : HYPERFBRC LOOPBK TST CBL
