Need help finding a console cable for an E25

Hi all!

I picked up an old e25 and I need to get it up and running to test some loads of perl on HPUX. The problem I ran into is that it doesn't have a specific console port on it. I have a 700/92 console but I need a cable to plug it in with. Can anyone point me in the right direction to the cable that I need? Enclosed is a picture of the back of the box.

Hi,

the E-class did not have a direct console connection. You need an MDP box between the server and the console.

That helps a bunch. Does anyone have an idea of a part number for a MDP box that I could look up online?

Allen,

You need:
MDP for E-class: 5062-3054
MDP - A1703 cable: 5062-3074

MDP means Modem Distribution Panel

The console plugs into port 0.
Use a 40242M cable for modem.
See ITRC doc KBAN00000533 for more cable Pinout data for the 40242M cable.

These parts are widely available from used computer depots, use the part numbers to search.

If you have to purchase the cable and MDP port it will cost a lot of money you might find it cheaper to buy an old workstation to test your perl on. I use B132L's for playing with at home and they are very very cheap. Cheaper than the chables you require unless you can find a second hand one.
