Newbie: Where to get info on HP Hardware?

Hi All!

We just took over the management of several HP machines. They have no documentation and no CDs. I have not worked with HP hardware much and would like to find out about the hardware. I already looked under http://docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/, but I did not find anything that really described the hardware. What I am looking for is basic information like architecture, type of CPUs and max CPUs, max RAM, number/type of slots, etc. I googled, as well, but didn't come up with anything.

Can anyone give me a shove in the right direction?

Re: Newbie: Where to get info on HP Hardware?

It might help if you said what models of HP servers you had.
If you know these models, then you can try to go to links such as :
http://www.hp.com/go/rp7410
This redirects you to a link such as :
http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/rackoptimized/rp7410/index.html
or you could simply go to:
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/prodserv/servers.html

as a start.

Re: Newbie: Where to get info on HP Hardware?

Thanks for the replies.

Well, that's all part of my ignorance. A couple of the machines are described as L2000 (I have not yet seen them). uname -m shows "9000/800", so I this tells me that it is an HP 9000 series, model 800. But what is the L2000 then?

Hey Volkmar!

Now that was a bull's eye! There is a lot of terminology that I am not yet familiar with at that site helps a lot. Make a new post, so I can give you another 10 points!
