Not able to connect Disk C6400A to HP9000/800 A500
Hi,
I tried to connect the external disk C6400A to my server, but with it connected the server did not boot. Do I need some patch for this disk??
Regards,
Olle Str├╢mhiel

Re: Not able to connect Disk C6400A to HP9000/800 A500
Hi Olle, that drive is a differential drive so, did you have the right terminator for the drive and was it connected to the right port on the rear of the A500?. The connector nearest the left side is the differential port and the smaller connector alongside is the single ended port, so make sure you have the differential port connected along with a differential terminator

Re: Not able to connect Disk C6400A to HP9000/800 A500
Hi Olle,
the C6400A is 18GB HVD SCSI external disk drive.
A500 has two built in SCSI ports: LVD Wide SCSI and SE Narrow SCSI. You can't connect the HVD SCSI disk to these ports.
If you want to connect HVD SCSI disk to A500 you must have add on PCI HVD SCSI card such as:
A4800A 1 port PCI HVD SCSI HBA
or
A5159A 2 port PCI HVD SCSI HBA

Zygmunt
