Open SCSI device on controller?

Hi,

I am working on application that opens a scsi device on controller (HSG80). If the device is busy (a mounted device, used by some application). Such device on open() return failure with some delay.

My question:
1. Is this expected behaviour?
2. Why there is delay, when open is called with parameter NO_DELAY?
3. What is library this call is pass thru?

Some more information:
I am using Tru64 5.1, cxx (Compaq C++ V6.5-014 for Digital UNIX V4.0D (Rev. 878)Compiler Driver V6.5-014 (cxx) cxx Driver) and libstor.a archive for application.

Please let me know if you need more information.

regards
