PA RISC 2 servers

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me what is the difference b/w HP 9000 PA RISC 1 and PA RISC 2 ???

Whether R380 server comes under PA RISC1 or PA RISC2 ??

Re: PA RISC 2 servers

The R380 is a PA8000-based box and thus understands the PA-RISC 2.0 instruction set. PA-RISC 1.x machines are PA7XXX and are 32-bit processors. PA8XXXX are 64-bit processors and can run either 32-bit or 64-bit HP-UX (if the firmaware supports it). The R380 can run either 32-bit or 64-bit HP-UX but EISA cards are only supported in the 32-bit versions of HP-UX.

The PA-RISC 2.0 instruction set is a superset of the PA1.1 instruction set and any PA-RISC 1.1 code will execute on a PA-8XXX chip but the converse is not true.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
