PA-RISC 8500 360 Mhz Upgrade

Hi,

I have a HP9000 N4000 server with 4 processors PA-RISC 8500 360 Mhz.

I want to upgrade all the processors with new ones.

It's possible to upgrade to PA-RISC 8600 or 8700? Changing processors is enough or i'll need an upgrade kit?

Thanks for the help.

Find out the answers from these hardware manuals. Check for upgrade instructions, limitations and compatibility:

Hi Americo,

You will need an upgrade kit A5866A
Processor upgrade kit - Includes one 550MHz PA-RISC 8600 processor with 1.5MB cache and attached heat sink

Re: PA-RISC 8500 360 Mhz Upgrade

What is the model number on the server?
A3639A
or
A3639B?

The A revision can only accept 360 & 440 MHz CPUs.

The B Revision can also accept 550MHz CPUs.

To use the 650MHz or 750MHz (8600 or 8700) you will need to upgrade to a C revision (also known as an rp7400)

The upgrade product # for that is A6750A.
