PA RISC Boot Issues

I am trying to boot a PA RISC box. I am getting stuck trying to pass the GSP. When I type in CO:
"Leaving Guardian Service Processor Command Interface and entering Console mode. Type Ctrl-B to reactivate the GSP Command Interface".

This is as far as it will go. I never reach the BHC to boot the box from media. I can ^b back into the gsp, but that is the extent of my options.

I've examined the error logs. I did not see any errors that would keep the box from booting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

could u reset(RS) and watch how far it is going? Was that a working server? what was the need for reboot?

Try the 'rs' from the GSP and see if it workks . The last option would be to press the "power" button !!!

You can do the following HP-UX command can be used to reset GSP.

stty +resetGSP
This functions the same as pressing the GSP reset button, response to query on
the system console is required.

I failed to mention we bought the box used. I have yet to install any OS on this machine.

From GSP ( ctrl-b>. Issue RS command to reset the server. Watch the screen. After self tests you will have 10 seconds to interupt the boot sequence.

From there you will be at the BCH and can boot disks, DVD, whatever you would like.

Forgot to add.

CO is only good if an OS is running, i.e. transfer the screen from the MP to a console session. No OS no response when in console mode.

My only options during the POST are:

That is from the start of the self tests to the point I stated it stops. Perhaps it's hanging on the processor self test?

Hi Will,

Can you tell us the machine type?

From one of your posts the machine seems to be complaining about IO.

Can you:
pull out the power for 30 seconds
reconnect the power leads
go onto the GSP
collect the logs and post them here once the machine has appeared to "fail"
(CTRL B> SL) fairly generic but might be DL
