Patch for PA-RISC 750MHz on HPUX 11.00

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they know if there is a patch available to enable a PA-RISC 750MHz CPU work on an HPUX 11.00 system?

I know these were originally 11i only, but I've been told there is a patch, though I can't find anything.

Cheers, Paul

Re: Patch for PA-RISC 750MHz on HPUX 11.00

Hi,

why would 750MHz CPU not run on HP-UX 11.00? did you experience a problem on doing so? did you know that HP-UX 11.00 will be dis-continue from March 31 2004?

sorry, have so much questions to ask.

regards.

Re: Patch for PA-RISC 750MHz on HPUX 11.00

Hi Joseph

I was told sometime ago by HP that the PA 8700+ CPUs (i.e. 750 & 825MHz) are only supported on 11i.

No I haven't tried installing it and wouldn't risk it unless it's definitely supported. Which it would be if a specific patch had been released, which is what I had heard.

Re: Patch for PA-RISC 750MHz on HPUX 11.00

Hi,

which model of the server are you using?

I was able to install HP-UX 11.00 on a PA-RISC 650MHz CPU which is from the PA-RISC 8700 family?

not sure if HP offers any patch/firmware as I am unable to find any from their patch database.

maybe you should get in touch with support but then again as mentioned HP-UX 11.00 will be discontinue which may explain why it is not supporting the CPU on 750MHz :)

regards.

Re: Patch for PA-RISC 750MHz on HPUX 11.00

Thanks for your assistance Joseph.

I now have a response from HP confirming that it is not, and as far as they know, will not, be supported.

BTW - A 650MHz CPU is a PA-8700; its not a PA-8700+. The "+" is the all important bit!

Thanks Again, Paul
