REPLACE CELL BOARD

Hello,

I have to replace the cell board ( cell 1) joined to partition 0, on rp7410 server .
Shall i face any problem after rebooting with the new cell.
The current partition will be detected normally or i should perform specific tasks to recognize the new cell and the partition
in order to boot HPUX instance from internal disk.

Regards

Roger

Re: REPLACE CELL BOARD

Make sure the firmware in the new cell is compatible with the firmware levels of the rest of the system. Upgrade if necessary.

You can see it yourself, they are different.

But you need to have a consistant combination of all components firmware.

Re: REPLACE CELL BOARD

finally it must look like this:

MP:CM> sysrev
Cabinet FPGA and Firmware revision report
System Backplane : GPM FM OSP
------- ------- -------
1.002 1.002 1.002
PCI Backplane : LPM HS
------- -------
1.002 1.000
LPM BOB DRAIN PDHC PDC
------- ------- ------- ------- -------
CELL 0 : 2.002 1.000 1.001 2.004 17.009
CELL 1 : 2.002 1.000 1.001 2.004 17.009

FPGA MP
------- -------
primary Core IO : 2.008 4.025
secondary Core IO : 2.008 4.025
MP:CM>

Hope this helps!

Re: REPLACE CELL BOARD

the firmware versions of **all** components in a cabinet must be consistent!!!

Hope this helps!

Re: REPLACE CELL BOARD

Hi Roro,

Since you have the new cell board with different firmware, I would suggest you not to insert the same. Please check with HP Backline support for the compatibility if possible.

Re: REPLACE CELL BOARD

Hi,

I have two questions :

1- i have checked the FW update release notice ( attached file ) an i could find that the components which we can upgrade are "MP , PDC , PDHC " . What about the other components related to system backplane (GPM,FM,OSP) , TO pci backplane (LPM,HS), to cell (LPM,BOB,Drain,SINC).

2- Once we finished the FW upgrade, is there any issue with the partition 0 which includes the new cell.

Thanks

Roger
