RP 2405 and A6795A (PCI 2Gb FC HBA)

We have an entry-level PA-RISC system rp 2405. We'd like to connect it to a SAN fabric using the A6795A fiber channel adapter. The first thing puzzling me is that two slots on the rear are closed and marked 'Not available'. Does that mean that there's no PCI slot available for the FC card? Did anybody succeeded in adding an HBA to this kind of small server? Thanks
Dino

If your server have 1cpu, you can use only 2 slot.
To use more slot you have to add on cpu.

Re: RP 2405 and A6795A (PCI 2Gb FC HBA)

This is a 2-way bundle (HP code A7122A), so it should support 4 PCI slots. May I assume that behind the metal protection there is a slot...?

Re: RP 2405 and A6795A (PCI 2Gb FC HBA)

Dino,

in fact if it is a two-way system (A7122A) it should support all 4 PCI slots while the single processor bundle (A7121A) supports only two.

A PCI slot is there anyway, so put in the card and try to boot. If it does not boot and complains about a card in an unsupported slot you should definitely open a HW ticket.

Also consider what cards occupy the two upper slots (they are twin turbo slots), if there is a SCSI or 100BT card, consider swapping it to one of the lower two (turbo) slots and put the FC card in a twin turbo slot.
